The Flu Jab will not protect you from this strain. The current vaccine for swine flu (the human strain) will not cure it either. The current outbreak is of a new genetic strain of H1N1. The new strain is resistant to the two oldest vaccines for swine flu amantadine and rimantadine, but susceptible to oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamivir (Relenza).
So this could be a biggie! And if it spreads to europe and east asia then we could have a epidemic on our hands.

The most current info says it’s a combination of human, swine and bird flu and that doctors are able to test for the strain. I’m grateful it only took 81 people to die before Mexico publicized this to the world. It took 25,000 Americans to die of AIDS before we publicly acknowledged it.

Rabb488 is correct. The first diagnose of the swine flu was in 1976 but returned again in 2007 and now stronger than before in 2009.
Related to the vaccine, there has been inconsistent responses to it. The current vaccines are oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamivir (Relenza), that’s why it is said that the flu is susceptible but not guarantee to cure it.

The epicenter was Mexico, where the virus is blamed for 86 deaths and an estimated 1,400 cases in the country since April 13. Schools were closed, church services canceled and Mexican President Felipe Calderon assumed new powers to isolate people infected with the swine flu virus.
