If you look at the impact of respiratory diseases on our economy in lost work time, and also in profits to the advertising and pharmaceutical industries – what would happen if vaccines were developed that prevented 95% of colds? What would happen to the number of sick days people took? What would happen to the cold/flu section of your local drug store?

My husband has been battling the flu for about 3 weeks now as a result from the nasal vaccine he was given. Of course I have it too. He has had 2 relapses(got better then got worse) since and I sent him to the doc yesterday. He has been coughing so bad he cannot stop. He has been taking Mucinex and DayQuil at every time he’s allowed to. The doc gave him scripts for an antibiotic and another coughing pill called Tesslon Pearl. Nothing is stopping his cough. We even have jacked up the humidity a little to alleviate the dry cough(it’s cold here and heat is on all the time making it dry in the house). He has coughed so much and so hard that it has irritated his lungs to the point of coughing up blood. He and I are not sleeping at night because of this too. He is going for a chest xray this afternoon after work – he’s missed to much work to leave early and we can’t afford any more hours lost.

My question is – does anyone know of anything to shut him up?
