mommy to a precious baby girl asked:

Do you see a difference in your childs reaction? Do you think it’s worth doing, or is it more painful for the baby? Just curious thinking about doing this please let me know what you experienced. Also do you get your childs influenza shot im thinking about not getting that one it seems unesesary to me. Don’t we get the flu even if we had the shot? Do babies get the flu after the shot??

Just get it all over with and get them all at once. No sense and making them go through it again and again in less than a month.

I never got the flu shot and I’ve only got the flu twice in my life and no where near as bad as most people get. My children will not get the flu shot.

I did it with my first daughter…some I even put off until she was two and a half. I didnt notice any differnce. With my now six month old. I get them as scheduled. Last week, she had three shots and one oral. She ran no fever and was only a little fussy for the first part of the morning. I would sugges get them as scheduled. I didnt see any benefit in putting it off. I was taking my first to get shots more frequently, this only added more stress to the both of us.

Also, I never get the flu shot….I wish I had this year b/c my little girl came down with the flu, was sick for a week, lost about four lbs and it really took a toll on her immune system. ..I will get her the flu shot next year. My sister got her three year old the flu shot, and she was able to avoid getting sick.

If I have to go thourgh hearing my little girl cry then I would rather it only be once…because I would never take her back for the second shot!!!! I am deathly afraid of needles and I can’t even hold her when she gets hers so doing it twice is really out of the question. I would think that since she lives with you and her father- that you would expose her to the flu anyway and just hope she doesn’t get it. I think that they rely a little too much on modern medicine…it’s the flu!! Not some horrible disease.

at this point flu season is almost over….so i don’t think it is worth it. Your child won’t get sick from it however there is a link between immunizations and the onset of autism. It has to do with the mercury preservative they use in some vaccinations. YOu need to ask your Dr if the vaccinations have this and weigh your options very carefully. Many people feel that it is better to wait until the child is older to get many of the vaccines. If you have your child in daycare or school the vaccines are often required though.

Its better to do it all at once so they don’t have to go through it again. The flu shot is always made for a specific type of flu which is expected to come out or be bad that’s why each year it is new. It is good to get the shot to help protect them from that specific flu which is predicted to be more dangerous then others. I always get the flu shot for myself my twins couldn’t get it this year because they were under 6 months but my 15 yr old got hers and my 7 yrs old got his. It doesn’t hurt to protect for that just in case. I hate shots and I hate seeing my babies get them but I feel better to get them all over with so it is behind us all. Best Wishes!!!

There is tons of debate right now over whether or not stacking a bunch of shots into one day is causing Autism or not….. I’m trying to find out as much as I can about that. I just read that a court case was settled and the parents walked away with a tidy sum because the doctor gave their previously healthy daughter 8 immunizations in 1 day, and later developed autism. They were able to successfully prove that there was a correlation…

Personally, I’d rather my daughter get stuck more times than develop autism (if there is indeed a link). Why risk it? They will get over the pain from the shot; whereas a lifetime of autism may not be so easy for them.

My daughter is 7 weeks old and I am going to space out her immunizations as much as is medically sound. Yes it may be an inconvenience and more costly to go to the doctor more frequently than it would be to stack a bunch in one day, but the facts that are coming out are just too scary for me to ignore.

i try to minimize the amount of shots my daughter gets and it has helped reduce the severity of her reactions to them. she doesn’t get as high a fever and she is generally happier

Well, we have only gone in once so far, due to go back next week for another shot, but she was easily comforted, and she was fine the rest of the day, not too tired or cranky and not even a hint of a fever. This year I think the flu shot they are giving only works for a few of the many strains that were going around..thats what I was told after I got mine, and with flu season being just about over…but its your call. I think that getting only a couple vaccines done at a time is healthier and easier on baby. Thats my opinion, and I feel its right for our family and works for us. But do what you feel is best for yours. Good Luck!!
