Unfortunately you may just have to wait until your sister in law gets home from the hospital. Your son is still very young and building up his immune system. Unless he needs to go to the doctor, it is not a good idea to bring him to the hospital. There are so many germs that he can catch and he may not be able to fight them all off just yet. I understand wanting to be there for your sister in law, but make sure you think about your son.
Congratulations on becoming an Auntie!!

Call the hospital and see what the rules of visitation are.
You may not be allowed to bring your son with you.
If the rules allow it, just cover his face while in the halls and make sure you wash your hands before touching his face.
Congrats on the new niece.

Have you asked yoru SIL if she would even want you to come w/baby? I was told by the doctor to avoid children under a certain age for the first month, until baby has an immune system built up. Babies give their immune system from mom’s breast milk, but mom doesn’t have immunty to some of the childhood colds. Just to be polite, as your SIL if she minds if you bring them.
If you do want to visit, I’d bring baby in her car seat, with a blanket draped over the whole thing to avoid germs. Just stay for a minute to drop off a card and say hello /see baby.

I was able to take my 5 month old daughter to the hospital to see my niece when she was born. Make sure it is OK with your SIL before you bring your son. She may not want the baby around her new baby. Also, some hospitals may not allow you to bring your son with you.
Congrats on your niece!

Children under the age of 13 are not allowed to visit the hospital in my area. There are exceptions if the child visiting is the sibling.
Check with the nurses station as well as your sister in law!

Call your SIL and let her know that you would love to stop by the hospital but you don’t have sitter. Tell her you can’t wait for her to get released and you will see her first thing when she gets home
Trust me, she won’t mind…it’s exhausting having all of those visitors.

The hospital I delivered at prefered no visitors under age 13 (unless a sibling) in the maternity ward, for the protection of the newborn. You may wish to call the hospital and verify their visitors policy.

Most hospitals have a rule that no children are allowed in the delivery/ post-delivery area under 6mo.. Thats their way of making sure it’s your child and you aren’t walking out with someone else’s baby… Call a head to see if you are allowed to bring him.. You don’t want to get there and not be allowed in, because you brought your son..
