well, they are all different, so the suggestion to google it, is really better. In contrast, if you were to have asked this question for each virus, you might get more responses. the flu is airborne, HIV is passed through bodily fluids, West Nile is caught by moskito bites, Chicken pox is highly contagious, like the flu, but more deadly depending on your age, small pox is also highly contagious, airborne and is similar to ebola and avian flu… Read up on it, very interesting! Not only do these viruses kill us, and are sometimes cureable, sometimes they are not, and are always mutating.

Influenza:
Typically influenza is transmitted from infected mammals through the air by coughs or sneezes, creating aerosols containing the virus, and from infected birds through their droppings. Influenza can also be transmitted by saliva, nasal secretions, faces and blood.
HIV:
Infection with HIV occurs by the transfer of blood, semen, vaginal fluid, pre-ejaculate, or breast milk. Within these bodily fluids.
West Nile:
The virus is transmitted through mosquito vectors, which bite and infect birds. The birds are amplifying hosts, developing sufficient viral levels to transmit the infection to other biting mosquitoes which go on to infect other birds (in the Western hemisphere the American robin and the American crow are the most common carriers) and also humans.
Chicken Pox:
Chickenpox is usually acquired by the inhalation of airborne respiratory droplets from an infected host.
Small Pox:
Transmission of smallpox occured through inhalation of airborne variola virus, usually droplets expressed from the oral, nasal, or pharyngeal mucosa of an infected person. It is transmitted from one person to another primarily through prolonged face-to-face contact with an infected person, usually within a distance of 6 feet, but can also be spread through direct contact with infected bodily fluids or contaminated objects (fomites) such as bedding or clothing.
Ebola:
Among humans, the virus is transmitted by direct contact with infected body fluids, or to a lesser extent, skin or mucus membrane contact. The incubation period can be anywhere from 2 to 21 days, but is generally between 5 and 10 days.
Avian Flu:
Infected birds pass on H5N1 through their saliva, nasal secretions, and feces. Other birds may pick up the virus through direct contact with these excretions or when they have contact with surfaces contaminated with this material. Because migratory birds are among the carriers of the H5N1 virus it may spread to all parts of the world.

Influenza: Some sort of fluid transfer, which includes airborne mists created during sneezing or coughing. Or, saliva left on a glass, fork, spoon, etc. that was used by the infected person.
HIV: Blood transfer, semen transfer, or vaginal secretion transfer. Saliva transfer has the potential to, but it is so small that it doesn’t happen often.
West Nile: Mosquito, Blood transfer.
Chicken Pox: Touch (Less sure about this one)
Small Pox: Fluid transfer of some sort. Not just saliva here, other fluids will work too (Less sure about this one)
Ebola: Nobody knows how an outbreak starts, but it can be transferred very readily by touch or anything more intimate than that.
Avian Flu: It is transferred to humans who handle infected birds with their bare hands. I’m not sure exactly how it transfers, though.
