Kenshin Himura:
Why do you need a new flu vaccination each year if the virus is not evolving?
Shouldn’t a single shot at birth be sufficient?
Evolution is the change in DNA from one generation to the next . Evolution is constant. It effects ALL life. There is NO DOUBT in any scientific field that life is and has been evolving.
The only contention may be exactly what the lineage is for each species. I.e. Human Evolution may be sketchy, but it did occur.

My point is this: If evolution is the survival of the fittest (please don’t tell me this pillar of evolution has now changed), why on earth would an evolutionist consider he is evolutionally defective by submitting to a flu vaccine?
or for that matter any type of vaccination?
Is this not tantamount to an admission in doubt of evolutionary laws?
By default, the teaching of evolution is that only the fittest lifeforms survive, so why is it that people feel regrets if those that have defects suffer and die?
Is not this just evolution in action?
So in that line of reasoning, why do we have hospitals? Really would not it be cheaper and less a burden on society if we turned the evolutionally defectives out on the street?
BY the laws of survival of the fittest, why should you feel sorry for them?
Is it not their fault they are dying?
My whole point is that, a medical system with healthcare hospitals and soctors and such is contray to the concept of evolution.
If the person is weak, gets sick or has a terminal illness, why is it that you desire to cure them?
Evolutionally speaking, they are naturally being sellected to die.
So what would motivate you to interfere with nature?

I am 28 and just found out that I did not get all my vaccines as an infant and young child. My mother can’t remember even if I got any at all. She said all she remembers is that there was a shortage when she tried to get it done in the late 70′s. Will this seriously affect my health later on in life? So far I have been pretty healthy. I have got the flu about every other winter, but many people do who have had their vaccines. I do suffer from sever sinus infections. Thats about all I can think of.

During Bush’s reelection campaign in 2004 he stated:

“I support the removal of Thimerosal from vaccines on the childhood national vaccine schedule. During a second term as President, I will continue to support increased funding to support a wide variety of research initiatives aimed at seeking definitive causes and/or triggers of autism. It is important to note that while there are many possible theories about causes or triggers of autism, no one material has been definitely included or excluded.”

President Bush is to veto a bill that would ban mercury in flu vaccines for children despite its known links to autism and other neurological disorders. The White House stated on Tuesday that President
Bush would veto the FY 2008 HHS-Labor-Education Appropriations Bill because of the cost and “objectionable provisions” such as a measure to ban the use of childhood flu vaccines that contain thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative.

Yesterday, I was at the doctors, and I was asked if I wanted to have a flu shot….

So, I said sure……. BUT! I had a choice between the shot vaccine, or a mist.

I’ve never heard of a ‘mist’ but I chose it ((out of curiosity)).

Anyway, a nurse put a syringe up my nose and she shot out mist ((that I like….snorted up)) and she did the same for the other side.

That was my flu shot!!

Has anyone else had the ‘mist’?

i’m not because of: mercury content, microchips, and the fact that vaccinated people can still get sick. and after all is said and done i’ll be immune anyway. Seriously ask yourself how can the virus mutate every frikin year? HIV has been around since the 50′s and it’s only mutated once. Either Influenza virus DOESN’T mutate that often and they want us to think it does, OR they’re engineering different viral DNA every year and releasing it into the population. We should have the same Flu virus that we had last year..and if it DOES mutate that often then 1 vaccine wouldn’t defend anyone against the multitude of viral DNA variations….think about it….and if there are so many mutations how do they always get the right vaccine designed for that specific mutation?

De Rerum Natura asked:

due to the high mutation rates of the flu virus new strains become dominant each year. this means that, since the newly dominant strains are those that are resistant to last year’s vaccine, the vaccine needs to be reformulated each year to be effective. just as all organisms do, the flu virus evolves.

since creationists deny the fact of evolution shouldn’t they just use last year’s vaccine?

I am travelling to India and will be there for 16 days. I will primarily be in some villages/small towns about 200 mi away from Bombay and also will be spending few days in Pune, and possibly Kolaphur. May also make a short trip to Goa.
My dr. gave me a Hepatatis A vaccine, Typhoid vaccine, and a tetatanus vaccine. I also have my flu shot.

Are there other vaccines I need to get and also–do I need to get a prescription for an anti-malaria drug?

thank you!
